San Francisco vs. Dallas on Tuscan in Training Camp Week 2

Pre-game

This week is a classic match-up between Dallas and San Francisco in Counter-Strike Source. The last time these two teams have met was in the CEVO-P playoffs where OptX lost out to Venom coming in 2nd. The Venom have proven time and time again that while their LAN performance last year left much to be desired, online they are a strong team. Both rosters have changed this year, with members of the former Pandemic on both Venom and OptX. The match will be streamed live here on sftopx.com at 4pm PST / 7pm EST.

Post-game

The new Optx CSS Lineup made it 2 and 0 this week with a solid 11-7 win over Dallas Venom on Tuscan, a different take on the classic CS map, Mill. Optx started off on the Terrorist side, but dropped the opening round of the second half, thanks to Eric “brawwr” Neer and new pickup Carson “classified” Holt. They rebounded behind Garett “Grt” Bambrough, who dropped a 3-man on Dallas, including a glock kill of Neer, and tied the score 1-1. Dallas answered back with other new pickup Kyle “Mustang” Cummings and David “zid” Chin, who hooked up to grab 3 and 2 frags, respectively, making the score 2-1. San Francisco tied it again behind Yaz “clowN” Ammari and Bambrough, who each fragged a pair to tie the score at 2. Then Laurent “Warmach1ne” Keoula and Mike “paradox” Stanowski mowed down the Venom to give Optx their first lead of the night, a lead they would not relinquish. Moe Assad picked up an amazing 4-man AWP/deagle round to make it 4-2 Optx, and Bamborugh closed out Round Seven with a pair of deagle frags himself to make it 5-2. Dallas answered back to make the score 5-3, but Optx closed out the final round to give themselves a 6-3 lead after one half of play.

Switching sides, Optx started the second half on the Counter-Terrorist side, and Ammari started things off with a 3-frag round plus bomb defusal to give San Francisco the opening round and a 7-3 lead. They made it 8-3 when Stanowski and Keoula notched a pair of frags in round 11. Dallas answered back with two rounds of their own, led by Chin, who was able to “ace” San Francisco in Round 13 to tie the second half score 2-2 and get the Venom back in the game. The teams traded the next two rounds, but in Round 16, with the score 3-3 (9-5 overall), Keoula and Stanowski worked together again to re-take the site and get the game winning defuse! With the win now sealed for San Francisco, they were able to pick up two out of the last three rounds to make the second half score 5-4, for an 11-7 overall victory.

For this match, I'm singling out the newest members: Garett “Grt” Bambrough with 11 first-half frags, and Mike “paradox” Stanowski, with 10 second-half frags. Each overcame poor ping to be an integral part of the San Francisco Optx success in both halves. Stay tuned, because next week, after Forza finished up their race on Sunday night, San Francisco takes on the CSS Team of 2007, LA compLexity! Keep it locked on #optx on the Gamesurge IRC network, as well as here on the Optx website, as well as Optx on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter, for all of the latest up-to-the-minute Optx news! Happy fragging!
